What is Anthroposophic Medicine?

Anthroposophic Medicine (Anthropos = human being : Sophia = wisdom) is a form of complementary medicine developed by Rudolf Steiner that views the entire human being (mind/body/spirit) in its relationship to the universe in treating illness.  It is a holistic and human-centered approach to medicine that uses knowledge of the laws of the living organism, the psyche, and the spirit.  There are different views of the development of the the individual such as seven year developmental cycles and the interplay between the different organs and the biorhythms.  This theory is a basis of the Waldorf schools original concept for chid development.

Anthroposophic Medicines

All anthroposophic medicines are designed to stimulate the patient’s powers of self-healing. The emphasis is on restoring the balance of bodily functions and strengthening the forces of individualization in the person. Most medicines are low homeopathic dilutions of materials from the plant, mineral and animal kingdoms.  These are formulated and applied in order to bring harmony and balance to the system.
